Id like to say that's great news,however since homeland security and our wonderful Pres,wont let any deportations actually happen,Secure Communities has no teeth,I dont think our community is picking them up anymore,because ICE wont come get them! In fact,in our "secure community" the jail just let out the wrong illegal (who was in for assault and intimidating a witness),they confused him with his brother,who was released a few days earlier.

Next week the numbers for Secure Communities deportations for July should be released
and we'll know how many are still being deported.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) deported 298,410 illegal aliens in fiscal 2009,

only 2.98 percent of the 10 million people it estimated were in the United States illegally.

The number of deportations in fiscal 2009 was far less than the 400,000--or 4 percent--that John Morton, assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said his agency was capable of deporting each year.

In a June memorandum, Morton spelled out why ICE had to prioritize its efforts to fulfill its mission of enforcing U.S. immigration law, including “the apprehension, detention and removal of aliens.â€

In 2010, ICE statistics show that 392,862 undocumented immigrants were deported.

the article I read said that only 3% of the illegals,that were orderd to be deported,actually get deported. let me look for that ,I'll get back to you!
