U.S. Border Patrol in Texas to receive 15 new Yamaha Grizzly all-terrain vehicles

CBP has awarded a contract worth more than $101,000 to World of Powersports, Inc., of Decatur, IL, to supply 15 Yamaha Grizzly 450 automatic utility all-terrain vehicles for use on rugged ground in the U.S. Border Patrol’s Del Rio Sector in Texas.

“The ATVs will fill a critical need and increase the Sector’s capabilities for conducting operations in areas that are difficult to access using conventional vehicles,” explains a contract award notice published by CBP on September 20.

The 2013 model vehicles will be supplied under a small business set-aside contract. Accirding to CBP, the vehicles will offer these features:

  • 4-stroke engine, single camshaft (SOHC) with minimum displacement of 420 cubic centimeters (cc) but not to exceed 450 cc;
  • Automatic transmission with high, low and reverse gears and all-wheel engine braking; push-button 2-wheel drive(WD)/4WD, and 4WD with differential lock;
  • Maximum weight of 620 pounds;
  • Dark green color with black powder coated accessories.


The 15 ATV must be delivered to the Office of Border Patrol in Del Rio, TX, within 90 days of the award date.
