U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (05/05/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 7,458 pounds of marijuana, 92.6 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.6 pounds of black tar heroin. Agents arrested twelve criminal aliens and seven gang members. There were seven rocking incidents.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Madero, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for voluntary manslaughter in the state of California and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Mission, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated sexual assault of a child in the state of Texas and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sarita, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual indecency with a child in the state of Arkansas and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Cowlic, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a child in the state of California and previously had been removed from the United States.

Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,592 pounds of marijuana, a Ford pickup truck, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Alpine, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,182 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 729 pounds of marijuana near Rosita, Texas. Agents observed suspected narcotics smuggling near the Rio Grande River, responded to the area and seized the narcotics. The suspected smugglers absconded into Mexico.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,650 pounds of marijuana, a Ford pickup truck, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Refugio, Texas.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 377 pounds of marijuana near Chula Vista, California. Agents received a report of a suspected ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion and observed the ULA dropping cargo before returning to Mexico. Agents responded to the drop zone and recovered the cargo which contained marijuana.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for second degree rape in the state of North Carolina and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Mexico in Corpus Christi, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for evading arrest and felony injury to a child in the state of Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico and seized two loaded revolvers near Eloy, Arizona. One subject was in possession of a .357 magnum revolver and the other was in possession of a .22 caliber revolver at the time of arrest.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized two handguns, three assault type rifles, recovered a stolen GMC truck, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Casa Grande, Arizona. One of the handguns and the truck had been reported stolen.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,086 pounds of marijuana, a truck, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Rosa, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a prior conviction for assault with intent to commit rape in the state of California. The subject previously had been removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. The subject claimed to have been robbed in Mexico by three bandits who threatened him with a knife, beat him and stole money and a cell phone. The subject was treated for minor injuries and the case was referred to the appropriate authorities.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 99 pounds of marijuana, a Dodge truck, a .22 caliber handgun, a .22 caliber rifle, and arrested two USCs near Hebbronville, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana in the fuel tank.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mexican Mafia prison gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested four illegal aliens from Colombia near Port Canaveral, Florida. Records checks revealed that all four subjects had prior felony convictions and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents 692 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet van, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hidalgo, Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Arivaca, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated criminal sex abuse in the state of Illinois and previously had been removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 92.6 pounds of methamphetamine, 2.6 pounds of black tar heroin, a Chevrolet pickup truck, and arrested three USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the methamphetamine and heroin.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Brownsville, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a warrant of arrest for murder issued in the country of Guatemala.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Progreso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a warrant of arrest for murder issued in the country of Mexico and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents discovered a cross border tunnel east of the DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona. The illicit tunnel was under construction and originated in Mexico, extended approximately 25 feet into the United States.


Tucson Sector – A Border Patrol agent was assaulted by four unidentified subjects throwing rocks near Nogales, Arizona. The subjects were attempting to smuggle marijuana into the United States at the time of the assault. The agent deployed less lethal munitions and the subjects ceased the assault, abandoned the marijuana, and absconded into Mexico. The agent recovered the 26 pounds of marijuana abandoned by the subjects.
