U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter June 2 - June 8

(06/08/2011)Border Patrol agents seized over 33,405 pounds of marijuana and 401 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 16 criminal aliens and 18 gang members. There were three rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed that both subjects had prior convictions in the state of California for sexual offenses and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 6,375 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,533 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,233 pounds of marijuana on the banks of the Rio Grande River near Fronton, Texas. Agents observed numerous subjects unloading sacks of suspected narcotics from an aluminum boat on the U.S. side of the river. When agents approached, the subjects absconded into Mexico and abandoned the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,522 pounds of marijuana and a Ford van on the banks of the Rio Grande River near Garceno, Texas. Agents observed numerous subjects loading the van with suspected bundles of marijuana. When agents approached, the subjects absconded into Mexico and abandoned the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,714 pounds of marijuana, recovered a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Charco, Arizona. Agents located the truck and the subjects in the desert with the assistance of a CBP Office of Air and Marine air asset.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Douglas, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a felony conviction for robbery, and previously had been removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 80 pounds of cocaine, 146 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet truck, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Niland, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and the subjects fled from the checkpoint. Agents arrested the subjects and seized the contraband shortly thereafter.


Grand Forks Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Virginia, Minnesota. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


New Orleans Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Westlake, Louisiana. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,021 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana. Records checks revealed the USC driver had an extensive criminal history.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,113 pounds of marijuana, a pickup truck, and arrested a USC near Rio Grande City, Texas.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,143 pounds of marijuana near La Rosita, Texas. The marijuana was discovered in an abandoned shed.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Big Fields, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction in the state of Ohio for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and previously had been removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for a sex offense and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,065 pounds of marijuana, a Ford Explorer and a Ford van in La Joya, Texas. Agents detected the vehicles near the Rio Grande River and observed the drivers abscond into Mexico. The marijuana was found in the vehicles.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Falfurrias, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Florida for sex offenses and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 44 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet truck, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Tombstone, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and was a registered sex offender.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC and six illegal aliens from Mexico near Freer, Texas. The USC was charged with alien smuggling. Records checks revealed the USC had an extensive criminal history, including felony convictions in the states of Texas and California for rape by force, kidnapping, assault to commit rape and sexual battery.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 315 pounds of cocaine, 570 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Pine Valley, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the narcotics.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of New York for rape and previously had been removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico after he fell into the American Canal near El Paso, Texas. Agents deployed throw ropes to pull the subject to safety.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC and an illegal alien from Mexico near Freer, Texas. The USC was charged with alien smuggling. During processing, the USC admitted to being a member of the Mexican Mafia gang and records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,529 pounds of marijuana, a pickup truck and trailer, and arrested a USC near Laredo, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Aransas Pass, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang and previously had been removed from the United States.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Brackettville, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of Florida for manslaughter and previously had been removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Zapata, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 8,397 pounds of marijuana, 6.2 pounds of cocaine, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the narcotics.

Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.
