U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter, Blaine Sector Feb. 23 – Feb. 29

Blaine, Wash. – The information listed below is from arrests and seizures related to U.S. Border Patrol in the Blaine Sector area of operations. For security reasons, this may not be a complete list of enforcement actions.

02/23/2012 – Personnel monitoring a remote video surveillance system observed two people cross illegally into the United States from Canada in an area north of Lynden, Wash. Agents responded to the area and encountered two individuals hiding in the brush. The subjects, both citizens of India illegally present in the United States, were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

02/25/2012 – Agents responded to a request for assistance from a Clallam County Sheriff’s deputy in La Push, Wash. in an attempt to identify two subjects who had caused damage to the hotel room they were staying in. The subjects, citizens of Russia, claimed to have left their immigration documents in Everett and were in La Push on a fishing trip. Agents could not verify their immigration status at the scene and transported the individuals to the Port Angeles Station for further investigation. Once at the station, agents were able to verify the legal immigration status of the two individuals, who were subsequently released.

02/26/2012 – An agent responded to a request for assistance from a Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputy who was on a traffic stop near Lynden, Wash. The individual involved in the traffic stop admitted to the agent that he was a Mexican citizen illegally present in the United States. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the station for processing. Records checks revealed that the subject had been previously removed from the United States and had also been arrested four times in the past for DUI. The individual was processed for reinstatement of a prior order of removal.

02/28/2012 – Agents responded to a request for assistance from a Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputy who had encountered two subjects who were trespassing on private property near the U.S. – Canada border. The deputy had received a citizen complaint of two people trespassing in the area near Blaine, Wash. Agents responded to the call and encountered two citizens of Honduras, who both admitted to being in the United States illegally. The subjects were placed under arrest and processed for removal. A records check revealed that one of the subjects had been previously removed from the United States and a prior conviction for the transport and sale of a controlled substance.

CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
