(09/17/2008)Border Patrol agents seized over 7,002 pounds of marijuana valued at $5,602,160 and 9 pounds of Mexican brown heroin valued at $753,300. Agents arrested 8 criminal aliens and 7 gang members. There were 6 rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and was a convicted sex offender in State of California.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico east of the Bridge of the Americas in El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Juaritos 45 gang. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and had an extensive criminal history.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico west of Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in the State of Oregon.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and a convicted sex offender in Maricopa County, Arizona.

Tucson Sector – A Border Patrol agent arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Arivaca, Arizona. The subjects were in possession of a loaded automatic rifle (AK-47) and six fully loaded magazines of ammunition. Both subjects were arrested without incident and the rifle, magazines, and ammunition were seized.

El Centro Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico east of the Calexico, California Port of Entry. Records checks revealed the subject had an active felony warrant of arrest for manufacturing and selling dangerous drugs in Marysville, California.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican national and seized 9 pounds of Mexican brown heroin valued at $753,300 and $1,200 in U.S. currency in El Paso, Texas.

Rio Grande Valley Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Roma, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. The subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 street gang. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Both subjects claimed to have been robbed by armed bandits west of the Nogales, Arizona Port of Entry.

Laredo Sector - Border Patrol agents were fired upon while responding to possible illegal alien traffic near Rio Bravo, Texas. The assailants fled the scene in a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The vehicle was later located and three suspects were arrested, including the alleged shooter, an illegal alien from Mexico.

Del Rio Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Uvalde, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant issued in Austin, Texas for aggravated sexual assault on a child and was previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Fort Hancock, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 gang and had an outstanding Federal arrest warrant.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico, seized 1,915 pounds of marijuana valued at $1,532,000, and recovered a stolen 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck near Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Both subjects claimed to have been robbed by three bandits after crossing the international border.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico in Nogales, Arizona. The subject was located by agents after he fell from a cliff, sustaining multiple injuries. Agents coordinated his extraction, and the subject was transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents seized 3,961 pounds of marijuana valued at $3,169,360, and recovered a stolen 2007 Ford F-150, and a stolen 2004 Yukon Denali near Arivaca, Arizona. The vehicles were observed heading north from the international border and agents responded to the area. Upon seeing the agents, both drivers made abrupt u-turns and retreated towards Mexico. Shortly thereafter, the vehicles containing the marijuana were found abandoned near the international border. The drivers of the vehicles were not found.

Marfa Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested a non-immigrant status violator from Indonesia at the Sierra Blanca, Texas checkpoint. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history including an outstanding warrant of arrest for counterfeiting issued in Monterey Park, California. The subject was also identified as a member of the Indo Boys gang in San Bernardino, California.

Rio Grande Valley Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Riviera, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for enticement of a minor for indecent purposes issued in Wilcox County, Georgia.

Rio Grande Valley Sector - Border Patrol agents seized 1,126 pounds of marijuana valued at $900,800 and recovered a stolen 2006 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck near Granjeno, Texas. Upon encountering law enforcement officials, the driver turned back towards the Rio Grande River, while passengers threw bundles of marijuana out of the vehicle. The vehicle was abandoned in the Rio Grande River and all of the occupants fled into Mexico.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and was a convicted sex offender in Hartford, Connecticut.
