U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: September 25 – October 1

(10/02/2008)Border Patrol agents seized over 9 pounds of marijuana valued at $7,200. Agents arrested 14 criminal aliens and 10 gang members. There were 17 rocking incidents.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico in El Paso, Texas. The subject was observed in the American Canal, struggling to stay afloat, and being swept downstream by the current. An agent deployed a rescue rope and pulled the individual to safety. The subject was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and was subsequently arrested.

Rio Grande Valley Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject was transported to a local hospital suffering from dehydration. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States and convicted of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Rio Grande Valley Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and seized 9 pounds of marijuana valued at $7,200 at the Falfurrias, Texas traffic checkpoint. The subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 gang.

San Diego Sector - A Border Patrol agent arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Diego, California. During questioning, the subject became combative and threatened to bite the agent. The subject was subdued and arrested. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States and had an extensive criminal history.

El Centro Sector - A Border Patrol agent arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Imperial, California. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States and was convicted of sexual abuse in the State of Oregon.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico near Ysleta, Texas. The subject was in the American Canal and appeared to be in distress. Agents deployed a rescue rope and pulled the subject to safety. The subject was subsequently arrested. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States and had a criminal history including convictions for weapons possession and robbery. The subject was also identified as a member of the Latin Kings gang.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and had a criminal history including a conviction for involuntary manslaughter.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Road Forks, New Mexico for transporting seven illegal aliens. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States and was a convicted sex offender.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico south of Kaka, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was convicted of sexual assault and was a registered sex offender in the State of Oregon.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tucson, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States and was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor.

El Paso Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico in El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisa prison gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested a USC, 50 illegal aliens, and seized a 2004 Freightliner tractor-trailer near Sarita, Texas. The USC presented himself and his tractor-trailer for inspection at a Border Patrol checkpoint. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a subsequent search revealed 23 illegal aliens from China and 27 illegal aliens from Mexico.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and was a registered sex offender.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and had an outstanding warrant of arrest for failure to register as a sex offender in Jefferson County, Wisconsin.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from in Sonoita, Arizona. The subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested a USC after he attempted to run over an agent near Tucson, Arizona. The agent initiated a vehicle stop on the car driven by the USC, and the driver failed to yield. The driver turned onto a dirt road, made a u-turn, and attempted to hit the agent as he exited his Border Patrol vehicle. The subject was arrested a short time later, and records checks revealed he had an active arrest warrant in the State of Arizona.

El Centro Sector - Border Patrol agents discovered a deceased person in the All American Canal west of the Calexico, California Port of Entry. Local law enforcement authorities responded and took custody of the decedent.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tucson, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and had an active warrant of arrest for statutory rape issued by the State of Washington.

El Paso Sector - A Border Patrol agent was assaulted near the Bridge of the Americas in El Paso, Texas. The agent was approaching suspected illegal aliens on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande River, when one of the subjects spat at the agent and another threw a rock at his Border Patrol vehicle. The agent deployed his Border Patrol issued Oleoresin Capsicum Spray towards his attackers. Other agents responded to the area and the suspected illegal aliens retreated into Mexico without further incident.

Rio Grande Valley Sector - Border Patrol agents were fired upon near Abram, Texas while responding to a report of suspected illegal narcotics smuggling. The unidentified subject on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande River fired one round at the agents, and fled the area.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Lukeville, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was previously deported from the United States and was convicted of second degree murder with the use of a weapon in the State of California.

Tucson Sector - Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near the Douglas, Arizona Port of Entry. Records checks revealed the subject was previously removed from the United States and was a convicted sex offender in Yakima County, Washington.
