TIJUANA — Authorities are investigating the deaths of four young people, including at least two U.S. citizens, whose bodies were found Saturday inside a van with California license plates.

The Baja California Attorney General's Office identified three of the victims as U.S. citizens: Brianna Hernandez Aguilera, 19; Oscar Jorge Garcia Cota, 23, and Luis Antonio Gamez, 21. But U.S. authorities have confirmed that only the first two were U.S. citizens. The fourth victim, Carmen Jimenez Ramos Chavez, 20, was a Mexican citizen, according to the Attorney General's Office.

The bodies, which showed signs of torture, were covered with blankets, said a statement from the Attorney General's Office. Their bodies were discovered Saturday. The maroon 1995 van was parked on a residential street in the Fraccionamiento Valle Dorado section in eastern Tijuana.
