Three bus drivers are behind bars after customs officers found $6.6 million dollars worth of cocaine hidden inside the roof of their bus.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers took the three bus drivers into custody early Friday morning.

Custom officers told Action 4 News that the bus entered the United States at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge.

A K-9 officer performing a routine inspection led authorities to find 81 packages with 207 pounds of cocaine hidden in the bus’ roof.

The three men are being held on immigration charges while authorities continue to investigate the failed smuggling case.

Customs officers told Action 4 News that a similar incident occurred at the Texas International Bridge in Laredo where authorities seized 315 pounds of cocaine worth $10 million dollars on July 11.
