U.S.' illegal immigrants likely to live with spouse and kids
U.S.' illegal immigrants likely to live with spouse and kids, study shows
Unauthorized immigrants living in the United States are more geographically dispersed than in the past and are more likely than U.S.-born residents and legal immigrants to live in a household with a spouse and children, according to the latest findings from the Pew Hispanic Center.
In addition, a growing share of the children of illegal-immigrant parents, 73%, were born in the United States and are U.S. citizens, says Pew's new publication, "A Portrait of Unauthorized Immigrants in the United States" (download it here).
The analysis builds on previous work on the size and growth of the undocumented-immigrant population in the U.S.
A 2008 report by the center estimated that 11.9-million unauthorized immigrants lived in the United States, and that this population grew rapidly from 1990 to 2006 but had since stabilized.
This new analysis also says a rapid growth of unauthorized immigrant workers has halted; it finds that there were 8.3 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. labor force in March 2008.
The report states:
"Based on March 2008 data collected by the Census Bureau, the Center estimates that unauthorized immigrants are 4% of the nation's population and account for 5.4% of its workforce. Their children, both those who are unauthorized immigrants themselves and those who are U.S. citizens, make up 6.8% of the students enrolled in the nation's elementary and secondary schools.
"About three-quarters (76%) of the nation's unauthorized immigrants are Hispanic."
"The majority of undocumented immigrants (59%) are from Mexico. Significant regional sources of unauthorized immigrants include Asia (11%), Central America (11%), South America (7%), the Caribbean (4%) and the Middle East (less than 2%)." Read on here.

PeMex chose alternate new oil refinery location upgrade Tula
Tamaulipas refinery proposal based on port infrastructure, synergies with petrochemicals - Mexico
Published: Thursday, March 26, 2009 17:52 (GMT -0400)
By David Biller / Business News Americas
The governor of Tamaulipas state, Eugenio Hernández, has presented a proposal for the construction of state oil company Pemex's new refinery, basing his pitch on existing port infrastructure and potential synergies with the petrochemical industry.
Hernández proposed building the refinery in Altamira port, the location of Pemex's first LNG terminal.
The location would be strategic due to its proximity to the Chicontepec field in Veracruz and Puebla states as well as to deepwater areas, according to Hernández.
The refinery would require construction of a 400km, US$565mn multipurpose pipeline running to the city of San Luis PotosÃ*. Another US$6mn would be needed for an oil pipeline, US$500,000 for a gas interconnection and US$15mn for a dock.
Tamaulipas was not included in Pemex's original feasibility study for the new refinery that was published last August.
Pemex held the public session on Wednesday to hear four state government proposals for building the new refinery.
The governors of Campeche, Hidalgo, Michoacán and Tamaulipas states argued their cases before Pemex CEO Jesús Reyes Heroles, energy minister Georgina Kessel, various Pemex board members and executives, along with other authorities.
Another six governors are due to present their proposals on Friday.I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Oh really? That's strange..........
.......not too long ago, when they were trying to dispel the anchor baby "myth", we were repeatedly told that the vast majority of illegal aliens are young, single males without wives, girlfriends, and/or children.
Just another example of how the "facts" continually change to suit the pro-illegal purposes du jourJoin our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

The majority of illegal aliens in North Carolina have a dependent wife/girlfriend and anchor babies too. The NC State Fair is filled with Spanish speaking men with women (many of whom are pregnant) and other kids in tow. E-verify must be accompanied with some way to identify these illegal dependents who are collecting the free benefits. Many will probably never self deport, even without a job, as long as there is free food, housing , medical etc.

Hispanics Make Up About Three-Quarters of U.S. Illegal Immigrants, Study Says
April 14, 2009 08:09 AM PDT
(CNN) -- About three-quarters of the illegal immigrants in the United States are Hispanics, with the majority of their population coming from Mexico, a study released Tuesday by the Pew Hispanic Center said.
The center estimated that in 2008, 11.9 million unauthorized immigrants lived in the United States. It concluded that the undocumented immigrant population more than tripled from 1990 to 2006 but has since stabilized. A slumping economy has made the United States less attractive to job seekers.
While Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Texas remain popular destinations for illegal immigrants, their numbers are more broadly spread across the country.
"This is especially true in Georgia, North Carolina and other southeastern states," the report said.
Of the nation's unauthorized immigrant population, 76 percent are Hispanics, while 59 percent of all illegal immigrants are from Mexico. Eleven percent of unauthorized immigrants come from Asia and less than 2 percent are from the Middle East.
Undocumented immigrants now make up 4 percent of the nation's population and more than 5 percent of its workforce, based on March 2008 figures from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The children of illegal immigrants make up an even greater share of students in America's primary and secondary schools. Nationwide, the number is nearly 7 percent, but in five states, about 10 percent of the student population are the children of undocumented-immigrant parents.
Children born in the United States become U.S. citizens regardless of their parents' immigration status.
The median household income for illegal immigrants in 2007 was $36,000 -- well below the $50,000 for U.S.-born residents.

Yeah, they are married and respectable, yet become single and unable to find baby daddy when applying for food stamps for the anchor babies.
