More than $845,000 in drugs seized

More than $845,000 worth of drugs were seized this week by U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to San Diego-area checkpoints, authorities said Friday.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested Sunday morning after drugs were found in her 2001 Ford Explorer at the Interstate 8 checkpoint in Pine Valley. The woman, a U.S. citizen, appeared nervous and had been referred to secondary inspection.

Agents found 27 bundles of methamphetamine and four bundles of marijuana. The drugs had an estimated street value of $145,000, Border Patrol Agent Scott E. Simon said.

On Monday afternoon, agents seized a total of nine bundles of cocaine from a diaper bag and a purse in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer stopped at the Interstate 5 checkpoint in San Clemente. The driver, a 21-year-old woman who is U.S. citizen, was arrested. The cocaine had an estimated street value of $218,000.

On Tuesday morning, a 27-year-old man driving a 1993 Mazda minivan was referred to secondary inspection at the Interstate 15 Border Patrol checkpoint in Temecula because he appeared nervous. Six bundles of cocaine were found inside a spare tire. The drug has an estimated street value of $169,000. The man, a Mexican citizen, was arrested.

On Wednesday morning, agents stopped a 1994 Cadillac being driven north on I-15 near Temecula. They found more than 15 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $313,000 in the vehicle.

A 20-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were arrested. The woman is a U.S. citizen; the man is a Mexican citizen.

Do you believe that legalizing marijuana would have a large impact on Mexican drug cartel activity within the United States?

Police seize 18 tons of illegal drugs in San Bernardino County

    June 25, 2010 | 1:40pm

A traffic stop led to the seizure of 18 tons of illegal drugs, considered one of the largest ever in San Bernardino County, officials said Friday.

Truck driver Fernando Luevano, 32, was arrested and charged with transportation and sale of narcotics.

He was driving east on Interstate 10 in San Bernardino County on Wednesday morning when a narcotics officer with the Sheriff’s Department stopped him for a traffic violation and found his paperwork was not in order.

Luevano consented to a search of the truck, during which the officer smelled marijuana, sheriff's officials said in a statement. He discovered 92 pallets containing thousands of heat-sealed packages of drugs: 2,750 pounds of cocaine, 67 pounds of methamphetamine and 38,000 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $45 million.

San Bernardino County Sheriff Rod Hoops called the seizure “one of the largest in the county.â€

I believe the BP should let these US citizens deliver their garbage with bugs on their vehicles and once referred to secondary get there cell phone numbers. This would take down the Cartel's operations here for a long, long time.
