TEMECULA: Border Patrol seizes 30 lbs. of methamphetamine at checkpoint

TEMECULA ---- The U.S. Border Patrol seized 30 pounds of methamphetamine at the Interstate 15 checkpoint just south of the city on Thursday.

The agents found 20 bundles of meth tucked inside a vehicle compartment that was searched by a K9 team, according to a release issued by the agency.

The suspected smugglers, who were not identified, were taken into custody and turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The driver was a 20-year-old man and the other occupant was a 21-year-old man, both of whom were identified by authorities as U.S. citizens.

The vehicle, a Hummer H3, was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol, the release states.
