EL PASO - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at ports of entry in El Paso, West Texas, and New Mexico identified and stopped numerous violations during the past seven days, including drugs, prohibited agriculture items, fugitive apprehension, and immigration violations.

Officers made 26 drug seizures, including 23 marijuana seizures totaling 1,508 pounds, two cocaine seizures netting 24.4 pounds, and one heroin seizure weighing 4.9 pounds.

CBP officers also made 14 seizures of prohibited food and agricultural items this week, resulting in assessed fines of $3,075. Pork, chorizo, bologna, apples, oranges, avocados, mangoes, sugar cane, potatoes, and live plants were among the prohibited items that were confiscated.

Also, CBP officers uncovered 112 immigration violations in the past seven days. Impostors made up the largest group of violators.

Altogether, 30 were identified through extensive document exams. Impostors generally will use a legitimate entry document assigned to another person and present it as their own.
