States Pondering Arizona-Style Immigration Law; White House Says This Demonstrates Need for Federal Law

    Wednesday, May 05, 2010
    By Fred Lucas, Staff Writer

At least eight states — Utah, Oklahoma, Ohio, Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, and Maryland — reportedly are considering legislation similar to the Arizona law, which allows police to determine a person's immigration status following a "lawful stop, detention, or arrest."

"This legislation mirrors federal laws regarding immigration enforcement," Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said when she sign the bill into law. " Despite erroneous and misleading statements suggesting otherwise, the new state misdemeanor crime of willful failure to complete or carry an alien registration document is adopted verbatim from the same offense found in federal statute."

In Ohio, State Rep. Courtney Combs, a Republican, and Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones wrote to Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and legislative leaders about the need for immigration reform in the state, but Strickland, a Democrat, said he would not sign such a law.

[b]Now Combs and Jones are seeking a ballot measure to let voters decide on an Arizona-style law for the state. “I get the question ‘why is Ohio concerned about this?’ The answer is that we’re getting the drugs from the illegal immigration,â€

These crooks and traitors need to be removed from office. Obama is guilty of treason. I really dispise this administration. They seem more concerned with illegal immigrants than Americans.

I have to agree with you "onetrickydude". These illgals get away with a lot of things and I do mean a lot of things. It is better for our own government to arrest us,the citizens, then make the mostly Hispanic communities angry.

And according to many law officers and even pro-illegal groups if you crack down on them ,they will NOT report crimes in their own neighborhoods. I say so what!

Obama is an illiterate when it comes to laws of the lands. If these laws in Arizona and other states are to be found unconstitutional, what about their own federal immigration laws?

These laws are not unconstitutional. These politicians are just looking for more votes when they get them in on an amnesty program. They are ALL TRAITORS to the country they pledged to defend!

Why is California not thinking about similar legislation.
We recognize that if you really want to create a job tomorrow, you can remove an illegal alien today

North Carolina should be one the first states to enact similar legislation; it has suffered greatly from the illegal invasion. Many illegals came during the building boom, started families here, and most are still here working in construction and similar jobs that should be going to Americans!
