U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers seized almost 3,500 pounds of marijuana Tuesday in a semitrailer that appeared to have been abandoned at a Nogales warehouse.

Acting on a tip, agents began watching the mysterious trailer, which was unattended and unattached to a tractor, agency spokesman Vincent Picard said.

The warehouse owner gave officers permission to break the seal of the trailer, and they found 156 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana among its cargo of squash.

The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made.
