I don't believe for a minute that she wasn't using fertility drugs again. Her husband got his boy, but his boy is not "perfect" so they tried again. He got his healthy boy this time, so hopefully they're done.
They should be deported.
I also noticed it said dad was making $400 (tax free I'm sure) a week, $1600/mo but only mentioned the additional $700 (social security) further down, and if he has MediCal, what wouldn't be covered, that they would need to pay out of pocket for as far as medical expenses go? Doesn't MediCal pay for everything? So their income is $2300/mo, not $1600.
He should at least be reported to the IRS, if he doesn't pay taxes on that $400/wk or if he hasn't paid taxes for the 28 yrs he's lived here. He must work a lot more than 40 hrs/week if he hasn't had time to learn English yet.

after two children and the fact that I was already 39 years old we decided to have my husband get visectomy (sp??) now he councils his siblings on doing the same. it took lots of discussions to get this Mexican man to understand that this was the best thing. I am so proud of him and we have no problem feeding, clothing, sheltering and giving our children the attention they need. believe it or not this procedure is free of charge in Mexico and so is birth control and counciling its just that there aren't too many interested participants.

Televised Mexican news is reporting that the mother of the octuplets has not been identified but she is "very young and a Mexicana" I do not know how they know this.

This story has a number of big question marks behind it. I heard they are from Iraq. The mothers first name is Nadiya, they haven't released the last name. The grandmothers name is Angela Suleman. They are being very closed mouthed about this, which just raises peoples curiosity even more. Specialists are now saying there is some big questions about ethics here. And of course we all wonder about their legal status.
