CHAPEL HILL -- Campus police have charged a student with disorderly conduct following last week’s protest that shut-down a speech by former Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo.
Morehead Scholar Haley Koch was arrested outside a classroom Thursday. She was released on $1,000 bond.

She joins six other individuals who were arrested Wednesday during a speech by another conservative ex-congressman, Virginia’s Virgil Goode. None of those individuals were UNC-CH students or employees.

Liberal student groups have clashed with these speakers who were invited by the conservative Youth for Western Civilization to speak against illegal immigration.

Protesters will hold a press conference at noon Friday at South Building on the UNC-CH campus to denounce the arrests.
