Peña: Undocumented Immigrants Must Await another Big Reform to Get Health Care

WASHINGTON – Undocumented immigrants in the United States will have to wait for another big reform pending in Congress, that of immigration, to be eligible for universal medical coverage, since they are excluded from the health-care reform bill signed Tuesday by President Barack Obama.

Judging by recent statements of Republican lawmakers, immigration reform will also face an uphill fight when it reaches – if it ever does reach – the halls of Congress this year.

Most immigrant groups have hastened to praise health-care reform, signed into law with great pomp Tuesday by Obama, whose chief goal is to expand medical coverage to 32 million people.

Though the reform will benefit some 9 million Hispanics, this “historicâ€

"But now, not only has he been absent from the immigration debate, but he accuses Democrats of having “poisoned the well,â€

Both Democrats and Republicans would be well advised to listen to the demands of this group – Republican President Ronald Reagan did so when he enacted an amnesty in 1986 – or they will risk losing the support of this powerful minority. EFE

Dems and Reps would be well advised to listen to the demands of millions more AMERICAN voters who have said NO MORE AMNESTIES! Reagan regretted the 86 fiasco, it was a huge failure. He let 3 million stay, now we have more than 12 million more illegals.

There are many in this" powerful minority" who are against amnesty, these pre-amnesty leaders better stick that in their heads.
