Albany, NY (WRGB) — According to court documents, An undocumented migrant has pleaded guilty to raping a 15-year-old runaway girl in Albany.

21-year-old Sakir Akkan admitted to attacking and raping the teenage girl in the backseat of his Toyota Prius while armed with a metal pipe last year.

According to an initial report from the Times Union, Akkan is a Turkish asylum seeker who crossed the southern border last year.

Following the report from the Time Union, The incident came to light after a traffic stop in Troy on June 6, eight days after Albany detectives had gathered enough evidence from security cameras and license plate readers to confirm Akkan’s involvement in the case. Their evidence included the alleged victim identifying Akkan in a photo array, more than two weeks after the rape took place.

Akkan is expected to receive a sentence of six months in jail and 10 years of probation.
