'Undocumented'? No, illegal
January 17, 2006
NO MATTER how you sugarcoat the words, an undocumented immigrant is an illegal alien. The words ''undocumented" and ''illegal" are not synonymous.
If illegal aliens are academically eligible for college, that means they may already have received all or part of their elementary, middle school, and high school education, free at the taxpayers' expense. When does it stop?
The Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation and others can crunch the numbers any way they want and tell us that in-state tuition is a way to enrich the Commonwealth. It's all conjecture.
You are quick to point out in your editorial (''College break," Jan. 11) that Texas and eight other states qualify illegal immigrants for in-state tuition. Does that make it right? Are the other 41 states wrong?
You said the in-state tuition bill would require immigrants to legalize their status. Not only do you want to give them a break on tuition, you want to give them amnesty. By the way, would the in-state tuition bill have extended to students from other states who are legal American citizens? Enough is enough.

OF COURSE, it would not have extended to students from other states. THAT is the CRUX of the problem. Either open up in-state tuition TO EVERY STUDENT IN THE COUNTRY OR restrict it to LEGAL students from that state. SIMPLE!By the way, would the in-state tuition bill have extended to students from other states who are legal American citizens? Of COURSE it is, had_enuf. Just like ALL of the laws that are being ignored.
I saw a segment on Lou last night that just FLEW ALL OVER ME. He was interviewing a Jesuit priest about the Catholic Church ACTIVELY supporting ILLEGALS. Oh boy--it got HOT. Evidently, those illegals are a nice source of INCOME for the Catholic Church. Lou was saying that he thought it was time that the Catholic Church stay out of POLITICS!"POWER TENDS TO CORRUPT AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY." Sir John Dalberg-Acton

Funny. I just saw last night's O'Reilly who also talked with a Jesuit priest who said they didn't support HB 4437. Bill got tough with this guy. :P

It is great that this guy wrote this letter. Anytime a newspaper reporter uses the term :undocumented" write a letter to the editor and ask them:
"Does your paper support amnesty for illegal aliens? Illegal alien advocacy groups use this term because they consider these people to be future legal residents and citizens who are just waiting for the proper documents through amnesty. Apparently you also support them receiving amnesty. If this is what you support, why not just write an editorial saying so, instead of attempting to mislead you readers?
Otherwise, please start using the official US government term, which is illegal alien."

TimBinh--we sure are glad to hear from you. We had been worried after hearing rumors about another site where you might have been targeted.
