Maybe some of these fruitcakes can tell us just WHO does have the authority to enforce immigration laws. The ACLU fought Hazelton saying only the Feds have the authority and then turned around and sued the Feds over the SSNs....now apparently the aclu thinks the Feds don't have the authority. I'm telling you folks, this whole thing is just evil and the aclu loonies are the chief bunch of traitrous, facists wackos! Money is the ROOT of all evil and we are seeing that in all it's glory displayed right before us.

This is the news release from our local TV station. Wish they had the video of the TV broadcast they did tonight on the story on the site as the guy talking about it could barely speak English and was very hard to understand.

Union to Sue ICE over Swift Raids

The following is a press release from United Food & Commercial Workers International Union:

Washington, D.C., -The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) Wednesday will seek court intervention to protect the 4th Amendment rights of all Americans and enjoin the government from illegally arresting and detaining U.S. citizens and legal residents while at their workplace.

The lawsuit-expected to be filed in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Texas-will name the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency as defendants. The suit will call for an immediate injunction against the excessive, illegal and unnecessary worksite raids conducted by ICE agents.

More than 12,000 meatpacking workers - citizens, legal residents and immigrants in the process of legalization - were swept up in ICE raids on December 12, 2006, at six meat packing plants across the country. The UFCW represents workers at five of the plants including Worthington, Minn.; Greeley, Colo.; Cactus, Tex.; Marshalltown, Iowa; and Grand Island, Neb. Despite this unprecedented, unwarranted and excessive use of force, only 65 workers were indicted for identity theft.

The UFCW represents 1.3 million workers across the country, including 250,000 in the packing and food processing industries.

Just posted on the NTV site:

ICE vows to vigorously fight lawsuit from union

    Associated Press - September 11, 2007 10:35 PM ET

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says the federal agency will vigorously fight charges that it did anything wrong during immigration raids of 6 Swift meatpacking plants in December.

Spokesman Tim Counts says allegations from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union are baseless.

Counts says all the workers were given full access to due process under the law and none had his or her rights violated. He says civil search warrants gave the agency the right to fully search the plants and question everyone there.

A lawsuit to be filed tomorrow in U.S. District Court in Texas alleges that agents unlawfully detained the workers and denied them of their constitutional rights.

I hope this is not just rhetoric. This case could turn on how vigorous a defense is presented. Given the inconsistent position of Bush and Chertoff they could give it lip service. Let us not forget the scandal of how Bush and company manipulated the U.S. Attorneys to advance their own political agenda in the justice system.
