Univision.com Using FirstGov en español Content

    http://www.firstgov.gov/Espanol/index.shtml

Washington, DC--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--October 12, 2006-- FirstGov en español, the official portal of the U.S. Federal Government, announced that Univision.com, the most visited Spanish-language website in the United States, became the first online organization to provide a "government" channel using the http://www.espanol.gov content. The portal will enable the agency to extend its reach within the Hispanic community through a dedicated section on Univision.com, titled El Gobierno te ayuda (The Government helps you).

With Univision linking to FirstGov en español, the Hispanic community will be able to access official government information and services in Spanish around key topics such as jobs, education, immigration, consumer protection and health.

“Univision.com’s decision to add this feature is helping the Federal Government to better serve its Spanish speaking constituents by providing them with centralized access to valuable information and services on FirstGov en español, the official portal of the US Federal Government,” said Lurita Doan, Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration.

“Univision.com will enable Hispanics to use FirstGov en español to access the official government information and services, and will let this community know that the federal government works for them,” said Lee Vann, Principal of Captura Group.

FirstGov en español aggregates information in Spanish from federal, state and local government agencies and organizes it in a topical directory accessible to the public at http://www.espanol.gov.

GSA is a centralized, federal procurement, property management, policy development and information provision agency, created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public. In this role, GSA acquires products and services on behalf of federal agencies; plays a key role in developing and implementing government-wide policies; provides services and solutions for the office operations of more than one million federal workers; and encourages a citizen-centric relationship with government by providing a single "point of entry" to the information and services citizens need in a timeframe they can appreciate. This allows citizens to receive accurate, timely and consistent answers and information, and helps federal agencies better respond to citizen inquiries.
