While most other states in the US are cracking down on illegal aliens, Oregon is doing everything it can to attract illegal aliens. If you have any concern for the safety of the roadways and our national security, you'll be very angry over this!

It has become apparent that the pro illegal alien lobby in Oregon is going to push for a driver privilege license for illegal aliens in the up coming special Oregon Legislative session beginning in February.

Governor Ted Kulongoski, this week, proposed that Oregon adopt the driver privilege license for illegal aliens. Today the Statesman Journal and the Register Guard have had lead editorials in its favor. The Oregonian has long advocated for it.

We urge everyone to write letters to the editor in opposition to it. In addition please call the governor’s office and tell him that you are opposed to a dual legal system in Oregon - One system for Americans and another for illegal aliens.

There is a loophole in the REAL ID Act that allows for a "driving privilege" card for illegal aliens. Only two states have taken advantage of the loophole, Utah and Tennessee.

In 2006 Tennessee stopped issuing driver privilege licenses to illegal aliens, leaving Utah as the only state that continues to issue them. The reason that Tennessee discontinued the practice is because they learned that out-of -state applicants were using fake papers and bribes to get cards. Furthermore it was discovered that organized crime operators were bringing in illegal immigrants from Central and South America to get Tennessee driver privilege cards.

It would be a serious mistake for Oregon to start issuing driver privilege licenses to illegal aliens. It would make Oregon the only state on the West Coast and only the second state in the U.S. to do so.

The result is that Oregon would continue to be a magnet for I.D. theft, methamphetamine distribution and illegal immigration. The primary tool in the tool box of meth distributors is an Oregon driver license and a driver privilege license would only continue it.

The proposal of Governor Kulongoski to establish a two tiered driver license system would establish a system that would require American citizens to meet a much higher standard of legality, proof of identity and conduct compared to that of an illegal alien.

For a citizen or legal resident of Oregon to obtain a driver license they would be required to have:

1. A valid Social Security number
2. Proof legal status with either a passport or birth certificate.
3. Photo ID
4. Proof of living in Oregon.

An illegal alien could receive a driver privilege license by:

1. Showing a foreign Matricular Card.
2. A utility bill or any document that showed them living in Oregon.

American citizens would have a much higher bar than would illegal aliens in order to be able to legally drive in Oregon.

In a nation that believes in the rule of law, we should have only one standard. We should not have a dual standard - one for illegal aliens and one for American citizens.
