Rosenberg Police apprehended 12 illegal immigrants after a high-speed chase through U.S. 59 and Rosenberg streets on the afternoon of April 7.

The chase started in the 28000 block of U.S. 59 near Cottonwood Road, said Lynn Munford, public information officer with the Rosenberg PD. The Rosenberg police officer chased the car down U.S. 59, and the car eventually traveled off the highway and onto Rosenberg streets, with the car speeding down Louise Street and Mons Avenue before coming to a dead end stop in the 2500 block of Sequoia. The street has a barricaded dead end, Munford said.

Twelve people jumped out of the vehicle when it stopped. They were apprehended and were eventually handed over to Immigration Customs and Enforcement officials, Munford said.

The chase began when an officer received a call at 4:20 p.m. about someone driving erratically, Munford said.
