Until recently, the federal government told us that there were 12 million illegal aliens living in the United States, a few months ago, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano lowered that number to 10.8 million.

Despite the fact that the official number is contrary to the Border Patrol’s own data, a recent study shows that the illegal alien population in several U.S. states has exploded in recent years.

Using data from the Pew Hispanic Center, the financial trading website known as Insider Monkey published a study last week listing the top ten states with the largest growth in illegal alien populations.

The study reflects the changes in those states from 2005-2009.

The results are as follows:

10. Tie between Ohio and Wisconsin: 20,000 more illegal aliens in each of those states, an increase of 20 percent.

9. Missouri: 20,000 more illegal aliens.

8. Connecticut: 25,000 more illegal aliens.

7. Oregon: 30,000 more illegal aliens.

6. New Mexico: 30,000 more illegal aliens.

5. Indiana: 35,000 more illegal aliens, an increase of 41 percent.

4. Louisiana: 40,000 more illegal aliens, an increase of 160 percent.

3. Alabama: 70,000 more illegal aliens, an increase of 117 percent.

2. Illinois: 175,000 more illegal aliens.

1. Texas: 200,000 more illegal aliens.

This study aside, the way the feds arrive at their numbers is as absurd as their assertion that we can maintain law and order without actually defending our borders.

In 1986, President Ronald Reagan granted amnesty to the nation’s illegal alien population. At the time, we were told that population totaled between two to three million. However, amnesty was actually granted to more than three million who crossed our borders illegally.

Washington arbitrarily estimates that every year since 1986, a half million illegal aliens take up residence in this country, either by over-staying their visa or by crossing into this country illegally.

Additionally, they believe that the one million illegal aliens who did not qualify for the 1986 Amnesty (many were criminals), simply stayed anyway.

When you multiply a half million by 22 years, then add the additional million criminal aliens to the total, you have 12 million illegal aliens.

That is the figure which U.S. politicians pushing for amnesty constantly espouse. These same politicians never take the time to explain to us just how they came up with that figure.

However, the U.S. Border Patrol places a much higher estimate on the number of illegal aliens now in this country. For many years, the number of apprehensions at the border averaged about one million.

When you then use the very conservative estimate that at least three times that many got away, over 22 years, along with all of the people who never return home after their visa has expired, you get a much different number.

Using the Border Patrol’s own data and considering the relative ease with which drug smugglers and illegal aliens make multiple crossings into this country, the more realistic number is much closer to 50-60 million.

I'm sorry, but I too do not believe that 1 out of every 7 people in the US are illegal aliens. I think the numbers are high, and in the millions, but not one out of six or seven.

Plus, this article gives us almost zero information about this supposed 'study' and who conducted it?

I have thought for along time it is around 40 million, I think W. is right the 60 million is a little high but then even 40 million makes me feel like I am choking !

30 to 40 million seems very reasonable to me. There are at least 7 to 8 million In Caleeeeeeefornia...

For two years now, the foreclosure boom and the collapse of the housing market have shown the door to millions of illegal aliens. The work is simply not there, and whatever work is available has become harder to get and not as profitable. IMHO - not a verifiable fact, just an observation by many - there has been a net outflow of illegal aliens which began two years ago. Yes, the yellow stone road and thousands of cow paths are littered by millions of invaders, yet there are many more leaving the country now than from 2005-2008.

But I don't have a statistical study to back up that observation, so "it doesn't count." No matter. I don't pay much attention to statistics from the Pew Hispanic Center... or La Raza... or MALDEF... or MEChA... Insider Monkey is probably expert at analyzing market trends and financial statements, but their source of statistics for this study is tainted.

The Pew Research Center claims to be nonpartisan, but that may refer to a willingness to receive funding from either Republican Open Border Lobbyists or Democratic Open Border Lobbyists. The Pew Hispanic Center is a group which advocates for Hispanic immigration in general, and which methinks doth not protest too much against Hispanic illegal immigration. Just my opinion.

The truth lies somewhere between the two, IMHO, probably a bit closer to 12 million than 50 to 60 million.

Lets see I went to jack in the box Friday night with a friend and guess what We were out numbered..It was her and I and one other guy that were English speaking Americans!
I was so mad..I have not been in this jack in the box for a bout a year and never seen a Mexican now a year later they out numbered us big time! They are rude and they had better cars and clothes and had more kids all in a row than me. I was lucky enough to afford 2 but they can afford 8 ...

I'm sick of this I cannot go anywhere anymore without feeling like I'm in another country. I avoid most stores here because they stink up the places with there rudeness and language and the kids run all over and the gross men stare you down saying crap in Spanish..My friend and I couldn't grasp what was going on it was twilight zone I swear.....
Gotta love stupid Washington. Murray should have never won I feel it was voter fraud considering Rossi lit up all the counties till you get to the big one KING! Where they were going door to door..I want every vote looked at!
And now the stupid Licence I say when we go get one we say we are from Mexico cause this is not Washington anymore!..Halloween was scary they were everywhere pushing our kids out of the way people were pissed! They don't care because they are higher than us americans..I
