U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: (05/26/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 18,865 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested nine criminal aliens and four gang members.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California.

Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,055 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search of the trailer revealed the marijuana inside.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and seized a loaded .357 caliber revolver at the traffic checkpoint near Shelter Valley, California. During inspection, the subject yelled obscenities at an agent, and physically assaulted another agent. The subject was subdued and taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed the revolver hidden under the driver’s seat.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Arivaca, Arizona. Record checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for aggravated child molestation and felony sodomy in the state of Georgia. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 59 assorted assault rifles, 49 magazines, a Ford truck, a Chevrolet Tahoe and arrested three USCs near Uvalde, Texas. Agents observed two vehicles on the side of the road and stopped to aid what appeared to be stranded motorists. Agents became suspicious after observing damage to the truck and the occupants made conflicting statements. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the rear of the truck, leading the agents to discover the hidden weapons.


Grand Forks Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officers with two vehicle stops which resulted in the arrest of 32 illegal aliens in Oakes, North Dakota.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sells, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lascivious acts with a child/false imprisonment with violence in the state of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents reported an ultralight aircraft (ULA) incursion near Patagonia, Arizona. The ULA returned to Mexico, but agents on the ground, with the assistance of a Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine air asset, were able to locate the landing zone and recovered 192 pounds of marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,019 pounds of marijuana, a Nissan truck and arrested a USC subsequent to a vehicle stop near El Centro, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a search revealed the marijuana inside.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for fondling, and lewd and lascivious acts against a child in the state of Florida. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,369 pounds of marijuana, a flatbed tractor-trailer, a large piece of construction equipment, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection, and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the piece of construction equipment and a search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 90 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet sedan, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Whetstone, Arizona. The subject presented herself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed the marijuana inside.

Houlton Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued a 66-year-old USC who was in distress with chest pain near Littleton, Maine. A frantic woman approached agents, stating her father was having a heart attack. Border Patrol emergency medical technicians located the subject and initiated basic life support until local paramedics arrived on scene and transported the subject to a nearby hospital.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,070 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection, and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,382 pounds of marijuana, four vehicles, a horse trailer, and arrested six USCs near Rio Grande City, Texas. Agents received information about illicit activity taking place on a local ranch, resulting in the seizures and arrests.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tucson, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a Sureño 13 gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 406 pounds of marijuana, a truck, a horse trailer, a horse, and arrested a USC near Douglas, Arizona. Several subjects were observed throwing bundles of suspected narcotics into a horse trailer. When agents conducted a vehicle stop on the truck, the contraband was discovered in the horse trailer.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Record checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for the unlawful and willful discharge of a firearm, and an active arrest warrant for homicide in the state of California.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents detained a male subject near Fabens, Texas who was wanted for questioning in a recent stabbing assault. The subject was found in a parked vehicle with blood on his hands and clothing. Local law enforcement officials responded and took the subject into custody.


Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested six illegal aliens from Haiti, one from Jamaica, and one from Romania near Stuart, Florida. Record checks revealed that the Jamaican subject had a criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.



Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sasabe, Arizona. The subject claimed that after he illegally entered the United States, he encountered armed smugglers who assaulted him and forced him to carry bundles of narcotics. The subject stated he managed to escape; however, he sustained some injuries during the incident. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and subsequently released into Border Patrol custody.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for rape with threat in the state of California, assault with intent to cause serious injury/sexual abuse in the state of New York, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Benson, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,735 pounds of marijuana, a 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. An inspection using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies and a physical search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,101 pounds of marijuana and a 1999 Chevrolet pickup subsequent to a vehicle stop near Alpine, Texas. As agents approached the vehicle, the driver absconded from the scene. The marijuana was found in the vehicle.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,574 pounds of marijuana and a 1992 Chevrolet pickup near Hidalgo, Texas. Agents observed several individuals loading the vehicle with large bundles of suspected narcotics near the Rio Grande River. As the vehicle traveled north, agents responded to the area and the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Agents found the marijuana in the bed and cab of the pickup.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,080 pounds of marijuana and a 2007 Ford pick-up truck near Why, Arizona. An agent observed a vehicle driving at night without its headlights on, traveling north from the border. Two subjects were then seen exiting the vehicle and attempting to cover the vehicle with a tarp. As agents approached the area, the subjects absconded on foot. Agents discovered the marijuana in the cab and bed of the abandoned vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tucson, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for attempted second degree murder in the state of Tennessee and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Amado, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for rape, the sale of marijuana, domestic violence, and possession of a controlled substance. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.
