Boy steals shorts, bites security guard

WEST COVINA - A 16-year-old boy was arrested for robbery Wednesday afternoon after stealing two pairs of shorts and biting a security guard, West Covina Police said.

The boy was caught shoplifting at the Ross Department Store at 2573 Eastland Center Drive at 1:17 p.m., said Lt. Pete Mena.

A security guard followed him outside and confronted him which sparked the suspect to run. He was stopped in the parking lot and the suspect and the security guard got into a struggle, Mena said.

During the struggle, the boy bit the security guard in the left forearm in an attempt to escape, Mena said. \

Police were called to the scene by additional security and when they arrived the suspect was being held down by security, Mena said.

The security guard was treated at the scene by paramedics for his minor injuries.

The suspect is being held on robbery charges instead of petty theft due to the struggle with security, Mena said.

In addition, the suspect identified himself as an illegal immigrant from Mexico when responding to a question of where his parents are, Mena said.

I hope they gave the security guard a tetanus shot and make him undergo testing for communicable diseases.

I wonder how stealing two pairs of shorts and then biting a security guard figures into the wonderful family values rhetoric we are always hearing about from the illegal invader advocates?

If his parents are here illegally then deport them as well (assuming this invader punk is going to be deported to begin with)!

As is the case with minors, he can only be released to his parents.

I'm willing to bet the parents will not come forward. Saving their skin in more important to them. I say after his stint at juvie hall, deport him to mexico by handing him over to the mexican government. No more getting off because his parents are illegals. If the parents do come forward, deport the entire family.

They are the ones separating their own family if they refuse to claim him. We want the family reunited - in mexico!
