Immigration law in NC
2:34
By Sarah Batista
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A version of Arizona's controversial bill has been introduced in the state Senate.
But the big question is whether or not it will get traction in North Carolina? Supporters hope it will, but some say it's too controversial to move forward.
The law has picked up support from around the country. At least 18 states are proposing their own versions, including North Carolina.
The controversial law requires police to question people about their immigration status if officers have reason to believe they're in the country illegally. Some proponents say it's an open door for racial profiling.
But supporters say it would help alleviate illegal immigration.
"We need to send a clear message to Washington to secure our borders and a clear message to illegal aliens to go home," said William Gheen with Americans for Legal Immigration.
Gheen has called on his supporters in North Carolina to write legislators in support of the proposed bill.
The bill needs time to work its way through the NC General Assembly.
However, legislators are in currently in a "short session" and House Representative Kelly Alexander (D) told WBTV legislators may not have time to work on it.
The bill has been referred to the committee on rules.

This bill needs to be expedited through the Rules Committee, and put on the floor of the Senate for a vote this year, even if it means staying over this session a few days. There are hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens in North Carolina, stealing jobs, deflating wages, robbing charity organizations, and sucking on public services, and they need to be arrested and detained by state and local law enforcement agencies and deported on the earliest possible date.
It's criminal to allow illegal aliens to live and/or work in our state and dereliction of duty for law enforcement not to arrest and detain them, and demand the federal government deport them out of here, with their minor children in tow, NO Child Left Behind.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

W you should also go after getting a dedicated specialized force able to enforce immigration in every part of the state.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Illegal aliens are numerous in NC. You see them everywhere on construction, painting and landscaping jobs, and their children are flooding the elementary schools. NC has a hire unemployment rate and yet these invaders are still working. It is imperative that NC take action now.

Look folks..haven't you figured it out by now? The Federal Government does not intend to enforce Federal Immigration laws. The Border Patrol is a fake front to give the appearance they are doing the job of vigourously enforcing federal laws when in-fact, it is very obvious that they do not intend to do so.
Read the news story posted here where the guy has been deported over 60 times since 1982 and he is getting ready to cross over again.
In crime fighting it is a well known fact that you can not deter criminal activity if you do not enforce the laws of what you are trying to deter.
These illegal aliens know that as long as they are not commiting criminal activity while here in the US such as dealing drugs, burglary, ect. that if they get caught they will be deported and told not to come back but that is is, time after time after time.
So what message have they received from border patrol and our federal government? The message they get is that if they get caught they will be deported to Mexico and which will be an inconvienance of about a week out of their life until they can sneak back in and resume their life in the US.
60 times so it is obvious that the federal laws we have on the books are meaningless because they are not enforced at all. Now take this number and times it by the 100's of thousands each year and there is your answer why we have the problem we do and why we have no effective deterrence program.

Exactly hattiecat, onetrickydude and Arizoonaman2008. We can't trust the federal agents and in North Carolina, we can only trust our local and state law enforcement, and among them, probably only the Sheriff's Departments who are elected by the people to protect the people of our state.
