What has happened to America?
Op-Ed by Max Friedman

My wife and I were having a discussion on several topics the other night, spurred in part by an action in Arlington County that would take many white students out of one or two schools and send them to others, because there were too many of them attending neighborhood schools, and they were getting overcrowded (i.e. largely due to the influx of legal and illegal aliens). Thusly, there is going to be a redistricting of the school boundaries and associated bussing because most of the redistricted students would no longer be able to walk to the schools closest to them.

This led my wife to ask why things had changed so much over the years since we grew up (she grew up in Arlington, I in Baltimore, but we have both been living here for more than 40 years, and our kids have gone through the public-school system, and barely survived it). She has her opinions, and I have mine, and often they don’t mix. Needless to say, sometimes I stay out of frying-pan-throwing range during these talks.

However, her main contention is that illegal immigration has wrecked our local schools, put strains on the infrastructure (through trash, pollution, parking, increased traffic congestion, crime, and especially the strains on the hospital system), all of which have devastated our way of life, and is destroying our traditions through “political correctness.â€
