Cupcakes and soda to combat injustice

Last Friday a bake sale was held in the hallway between the LA and PE buildings. Bake sales are fairly common on campus, usually part of fundraising efforts for a team; but this time, the proceeds will contribute to--what the organizers believe to be--righting a wrong.

The Davy Crockett Society, a new conservative students club on campus, is standing up for what they believe is right. The money raised will benefit families of two recently-jailed border agents Ramos and Campean who shot an illegal alien/drug trafficker in the buttocks. Another aim of conducting the fundraiser was, according to the Davy Crocketts, to raise awareness of the issue of illegal immigration.

President of the society Bobby Udall said, “We believe strongly in the family, religion and in morals. We felt like we needed to start this club in order to combat all these left-leaning ideologies infiltrating our school. We’re sick of liberal professors telling us what we should think."

“Like Davey Crockett said, ‘Let your tongue speak what your heart thinks,’ and indeed we are doing that by helping agent Ramos and agent Compean and their families. These two agents, we believe, are heroes. They are the victims of an unspeakable injustice and we are trying to help their families by raising awareness about illegal immigration that is overwhelming this country.”

The society mean to stand up against whatever traditional values are being challenged. An anti-porn rally and fundraiser for American family lobbyists is planned for the future.

“We don’t care if you are black, white, Mormon, Catholic, Democrat or Republican,” said Udallm, “All we care about at the end of the day is, we’re Americans, we love this country and we want to protect the integrity of our borders and stand up for what’s good. So we stand up for what is good.”
