OREM — A man who is in the United States illegally was arrested Wednesday in the sex abuse of a child.
According to a police affidavit, a 10-year-old girl told officers a man was temporarily staying at her home a year ago with permission from her parents. At that time, the man allegedly exposed himself to the victim and tried to make her touch him. The girl pulled her hand away, and the man told her never to tell her father.

Police interviewed the man, after reading his Miranda rights, about the incident and he denied the allegations, saying, "Why would I touch a little girl like that?"

Police booked the man, now a 22-year-old resident of Taylorsville, into the Utah County Jail for investigation of sex abuse of a child. Police noted the man is in the country illegally and used a fraudulent Social Security number to get a Utah driver's license.
