VA The Clarke County Sheriff's Office is connecting pieces
The Clarke County Sheriff's Office is connecting pieces of a complicated puzzle.
A home invasion last week has snowballed into a probe of contraband and illegal aliens.
Last Thursday deputies responded to reports of a home invasion at 1263 Wadesville Road. Two Hispanic men in the house were allegedly assaulted.
Police later uncovered that the two victims are in the country illegally. The Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for one of the victims who allegedly sold cocaine to a Drug Taskforce agent.
Sheriff Tony Roper says keeping the community informed without compromising the investigation is a balancing act. "Part of our balancing act in this case is to let the community know that although the victims are illegals, and although one of the victims is now a suspect this is still an act of violence. We are investigating to the best of our ability. We want to locate the victims in this case and we very much want to arrest the suspects in this case," says Roper.
The house on Wadesville Road is now available for rent less than a week after the incident occurred.
Sheriff Roper says a bag of white powder was confiscated from the residence after the invasion.
