VA: The Feds Gut Our Section 287(g) Program

The Feds Gut Our Section 287(g) Program
    By Greg L | 11 December 2007

    Prince William County, VA:
Not only has the federal government nixed the idea of a regional Criminal Alien Initiative in Prince William, which would have ensured a consistent training and operational approach to dealing with criminal illegal aliens in the area, but it has only approved a single slot for the Manassas City Police Department in it’s training for the Section 287(g) Program according to the MJM. One might get the impression that the Department of Homeland Security had lost interest in the program.

And one might well be correct in arriving at that conclusion.

[i]After Skinner’s briefing, Councilman Steven Randolph expressed his disappointment with the latest development.

“It [amending the jail agreement] was the logical thing to do, the economical thing to do so I am not surprised that the federal government decided to do something different,â€

The executive branch is clearly trying to thwart the intent of Congress here.
The Bush administration is attempting to thwart the intent of Congress on other issues pertaining specifically to illegal immigration and border security too. It's getting to the point where the Bush administration can be counted on to undermine anything that would impede corporate America's access to cheap labor. The border fence is another example that quickly comes to mind.

Wouldn't want to continue with something that is working now would we! It is time to raise hell with congress again, all of the money taxpayers have spent on Homeland security, something should damn well be happening.

The truth may be something far more frightening. But the bottom line is the federal government is now going to be much less helpful in getting local jurisdictions trained by ICE under 287(g).
Them and their SSP/NAU plans. I hope they rot in hell.
