    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.

An illegal immigrant residing in Chesapeake pleaded guilty to a September rape and abduction at the Oceanfront.

According to the Commonwealth's evidence, Carlos Hernandez, 24, who previously resided in the 2500 block of Gilmerton Road, was driving around with a co-conspirator on September 14, 2010 with the intention of abducting and sexually assaulting a woman, Virginia Beach Commonweatlh's Attorney Harvey Bryant said.

Bryant said a woman was walking through the McDonald's parking lot at the intersection of 21st Street and Pacific Avenue on her way to a friend's house when the two men exited the SUV, hit her in the head, placed a knife to her neck, and forced her into the SUV.

The men drove on the interstate, taking turns sexually assaulting her at knifepoint until she persuaded them to stop at a 7-11 store in Chesapeake.

The woman ran into the store and reported the incident to the clerk, who called police.

Chesapeake police located the vehicle near the store and took the men into custody.

When questioned by a detective, Hernandez confessed his involvement in the attack.

A knife was also found inside the vehicle.

Herndandez's sentencing is scheduled for June 1, 2011.

Bryant said Hernandez will be deported after serving his sentence.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A second illegal immigrant formally acknowledged his role in an oceanfront rape/abduction, Marci Pridgen with the Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney's told WAVY.com.

Santiago Jimenez, 22, previously of Chesapeake, pleaded guilty in Virginia Beach Circuit Court Wednesday. Jimenez pleaded guilty to charges of rape, abduction with the intent to defile, and Conspiracy.

According to Pridgen, had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proved that on September 14, 2010, Jimenez and his co-conspirator, Carlos Hernandez were driving around the city in a black SUV with the intention of abducting and sexually assaulting a woman. The victim happened to be walking through the McDonald's parking lot at the intersection of 21st Street and Pacific Avenue in Virginia Beach when Jiminez saw her. That's when Pridgen says Jiminez exited the SUV, hit the victim in the head, placed a knife to her neck and forced her into the vehicle.

Pridgen also said that evidence would have proved that the men drove along the interstate, taking turns sexually assaulting the victim at knifepoint until she persuaded them to stop at a 7-Eleven in Chesapeake.

The victim ran into the store and reported the incident. Chesapeake police located the vehicle a short distance away and apprehended both suspects, Pridgen said.

DNA evidence linked both Jimenez and Hernandez to the crime.

Jimenez will be sentenced on June 22, 2011 and is being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey Bryant expects Jimenez to be deported at the conclusion of his sentence.
