Immigration probe uncovers possible ice cream truck ban

The summertime chimes of the ice cream truck rounding the bend are as iconic in Manassas as anywhere else, but a new crackdown on unregulated peddlers has put the tasty tradition in limbo.

A civic investigation into a proliferation of ice cream pushcarts, taco stands and other ultra-small businesses helped the town realize its laws actually prohibited ice cream trucks from selling cool treats on city streets.

I am quite sure most of them do not have any licenses or permits of any kind.

When we were in Mesa, there was one Mexican (don't know if illegal they wouldn't say) who owned an ice cream truck and he was pulling children into the truck to molest them.

Of course, that has happened with other than illegals - so these people bear watching - knowing they primarily are going to be dealing with children.

What bothers me is the women making tamales who just walk down the street selling them. My husband was raised in the around lots of Mexicans and dearly loves the homemade food. Once before I could stop him, he bought some tamales, said they were great, but I gave him a good talking to. These are not the same nice old Mexicans ladies we both grew up with.

More & more it becomes clear if we do not get a handle on immigration we are going to look like a 3rd world nation.

It is so sad we are going to loose a icon of summertime in america,ice cream trucks, because we are being overwhelmed by peddlers of all kinds in our streets who do not understand nor follow our laws.

not only that but the ones around here sell illegal mexican candy. alot of Mexican candy has lead and mercury in it.
