Immigration coalition wrapping up draft

BOSTON -- A coalition of immigrant activists and Massachusetts officials are finishing up a draft recommendations for state immigration reform.

Eva Millona, the executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition, says the coalition this week will finish the recommendations and submit them to Gov. Deval Patrick by July 1.

Last year, Patrick created the "New Americans Agenda" initiative. He sent the coalition around the state to take public comment and come up with suggestions for new immigration policy.

During public hearings, speakers asked the coalition to press for such reforms as drivers' licenses and state tuition for undocumented immigrants.

Millona says it will be up Patrick to adopt the recommendations.
