Mitt Romney is quitting his campaign for president, having made the final decision last night, according to a campaign source who asked to remain anonymous.

He made the final decision last night, as he was preparing his speech for Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, the source said.

    romney--huckabee

I am beside myself-- I do not know what to do. I do know we should not quit. The Democrats cannot lose. Why?? Simply because, with the exception of his position on Iraq, McCain holds all the same views as the liberals. In fact, he may be even more liberal than any Democrat candidate.

Huckabee is as big a flip-flopper as they come, but he has pledged to fight illegal immigration. So, for now, in a foggy state, I look at him as a possible "save" in the sense that he has flopped back in the conservative direction.

When the election comes, if MCain is the Republican candidate, I will vote for the Democrat unless there is a third party candidate. If Ron Paul runs as an Independent, I will vote for him. I have , over the course of this campaign, emailed his campaign and gotten answers to my questions re: Iraq, immigration and the eceonomy. None of the answers were bad at all. It seems the media has shouted the scary things, like immediate removal of troops from Iraq. His campaign people tell me that it will be a gradual removal based on the state of the war as reported to him by the generals. Similarly, the troops around the world will be reduced, not removed. I do not like some of what I heard , but at thsi point, the issues seem far less dangerous than an Open Borders, Free Trade advocate.

I know a lot of folks will not agree, but I do see a salvation. If Newt Gingrich would , so to speak, ride to the rescue of the conservative voters. I have no special knowledge, but I do believe that he did not enter the race because, among a couple of reasons, early on there were all kinds of articles in the press about his "romantic" entanglements and how this would make him unelectable, especially to the evangelical right. So what upright people did we get??? Giuliani??? Clinton??
I read Gingrich's eleven (11) points to save America well over a year ago. They are absolutely on the money. Politically, historically and intelligently, there is not a smarter person who could run.
I will vote for anyone of any party before I will vote for McCain!!!
I mean it!!! (He is a hypocrite, vainglorious, psychotic, Hispandering fool!!!!

I'm wondering, since McClodd & Huckster are friendly like, could this have been a plan? Huckster staying in the race to sabotage Romney's votes?
I wouldn't be surprised if McClodd asked Huckster to be his running mate.

Paul garnered three percent-yes, three percent that's not a misprint-in Georgia, the most libertarian state in the country with the exception, perhaps, of Idaho.

I admire the enthusiasm-for the most part-of some of his supporters, but you've got to face facts. He's not going to win and Huckabee-now that he's crippled the candidacy of the only major viable, pro-American, anti-illegal candidate remaining in the race-will withdraw.

We've got to start looking at alternatives and focusing on down-ballot races, because I can guarantee you that if the Dem. majorities in Congress grow any larger, which is a distinct possibility, we're cooked.
