45 fugitives and immigration violators arrested in Albert Lea and Austin

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers from Bloomington arrested 45 immigration status violators in Albert Lea and Austin during a four-day operation called Operation Return to Sender.

The operation is a nationwide Immigration and Customs Enforcement initiative targeting illegal aliens with final orders for removal. The law-enforcement agency announced the arrests today.

Of the 45 arrested, nine are fugitive aliens with final orders of deportation and 36 are immigration violators who were encountered during the targeted arrests. Thirteen of the arrested have convictions for other offenses.

Twenty-four werre arrested in Albert Lea, and 21 arrested in Austin, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The operation ended Friday.
