State police arrested 11 illegal Mexican immigrants Tuesday and yesterday when vehicles in which they were traveling were stopped.

Troopers pulled over a Chevrolet truck going west on Route 422 near the Route 60 interchange in Union Township around 11 a.m. Tuesday after the driver allegedly committed several traffic violations.

Police determined the two occupants of the truck are in the United States illegally from Mexico. They were turned over to the federal Immigration Customs Enforcement bureau.

Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, troopers stopped a van with a Tennessee license plate on Route 60 northbound in Union Township for alleged traffic violations.

They determined that four of the occupants are in the country illegally from Mexico; however, the van driver and a front-seat passenger are Tennessee residents.

Police transported the four aliens to the state police station and later detained five more people from Mexico. No details on those five were available at press time today.

All nine were taken to the Lawrence County jail, where they are being held in custody this morning for immigration services, police said.

It's about time I heard a story like that. Unfortunetly,I've been informed by th DA office handling my grandson's case that 90% of illegals never get deported after being released from jail. Especially ones that commit traffic homicides. Scary Huh It's the INS who needs to crap or get off the pot I still say they should round up as many illegals as possible and put them on the front lines in Iraq, seeing how they love our country so much, it shouldn't be a problem for them.

What makes you think our brave men and women in the military want to serve with them. Furthermore, IMHO that would just be another form of amnesty. Iraq or not, I don't want my tax dollars going to them in the form of a paycheck, medical benefits, life insurance policy, free dental, etc. Isn't a large part of our argument based on the fact that we don't want criminal aliens working for any employer in the United States - wouldn't that include Uncle Sam?

Point taken. I was'nt being serious. Besides, if that did happen,they would have to serve for free,considering alll the freebies they all ready get.

MW, i so agree our soldiers deserve better! these criminal invaders are cowards, there is no place in our military for cowards. i say deport them back to their home countries.
