House passes immigrant committee bill

Virginia may soon have an official board to address the immigration debate that is at the forefront of hotbed issues this General Assembly session.

The House of Delegates passed a bill Tuesday to create a state board that will examine and report the effects of immigration on the commonwealth.

The bill’s sponsor, Manassas Del. Robert G. Marshall, R-13th District, said the Virginia Commission on Immigration will primarily serve a fact-finding purpose.
