FORKS — A 33-year-old illegal immigrant in Forks has been arrested for investigation of second-degree child rape for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old.

Victor Armenta Pichardo is being held in the Clallam County jail on $500,000 bond after his arrest Thursday.

He also is being held on a Border Patrol detainer.

Formal charges are expected to be filed in *Clallam County Superior Court at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Child Protective Services, which had received information from Forks Middle School that a student there had reported that she had been sexually molested.

Sheriff’s deputies and Forks police arrested Armenta Pichardo at his residence in a Forks mobile home park and collected evidence for a State Patrol forensic examination.

Subsequent to the arrest, Border Patrol agents informed sheriff’s detectives that Armenta Pichardo was in the country illegally.

He had been deported in 1997.

A criminal history check revealed that Armenta Pichardo has used several aliases, Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Lyman Moores said.
