SEQUIM, Wash. —
Separate rallies for and against Border Patrol checkpoints on the Olympic Peninsula are scheduled Saturday at Sequim.

The coordinator of the group Stop the Checkpoints, Lois Danks, told The Peninsula Daily News the Woman's Day rally at Pioneer Park will celebrate the strength of women resisting Border Patrol tactics.

Less than 2 miles away members of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps plan a rally to support the Border Patrol. Minuteman Hal Washburn said his group aims to counter the other rally and support efforts to stop illegal immigration.
