Alvarado-Gonzalez was arrested by Waukegan police in February 2006 following an investigation into his sexual relationship with a child. According to prosecutor Bodie Haxell, Alvarado-Gonzalez had vaginal intercourse with a girl under 13 on numerous occasions.

Alvarado-Gonzalez appeared in court wearing a blue Lake County Jail jumpsuit and pleaded guilty though an interpreter.

After pleading guilty to one count of the charge, Judge James Booras said Alvarado-Gonzalez faces a minimum of six to 30 years in prison, but he could face up to 60 years in prison.

Additionally, Booras told Alvarado-Gonzalez, "Almost certainly you will be deported (to Mexico)."

Alvarado-Gonzalez's sentencing hearing is scheduled Oct. 22. He will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, Haxell said.
