Weezer Sues Miller Brewing Company

Normally bands like to be talked about and have their name and photos in rock magazines, but when they're used without their permission in an ad campaign that racks up millions for a big time corporation the gloves come out.

Weezer's name and a ticket stub from a 2002 concert of theirs was used in a 2 page Rolling Stone ad for Miller Brewing Company in 2004 and the band has decided to sue Miller. Weezer says that Miller used its name in a "grossly misleading and deceptive" manner by using the bands name and concert stubs in the promotion of alcoholic beverages, which Weezer "did not, and do not, consent to."

The suit will take Miller and Weezer to a Los Angeles Court, and the band is seeking damages equal to three times the revenue Miller generated as a result of the advertisements, which frontman Rivers Cuomo says is "believed to be in the millions of dollars".
