WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2011 -- /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cecilia Munoz, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House, joins the slate of keynote speakers during the National League of Cities' (NLC) Congress of Cities and Exposition in Phoenix, November 9-12. As the lead staffer to the President on immigration reform, Munoz is expected to address city officials on the topic of immigrant integration and the goals of the Obama Administration during the conference's Opening General Session on Thursday, November 10.

In her current position, Munoz oversees the Obama Administration's relationships with state and local governments. Prior to joining the White House, Munoz served as senior vice president for the Office of Research, Advocacy and Legislation at the National Council of La Raza, where she focused on immigration policy.

During the general session, Munoz will be joined by other policy experts, including former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell, co-chair of Building America's Future; Majora Carter, eco-entrepreneur and founder of Sustainable South Bronx and Hill Harper, author, actor and current star of the CBS drama CSI: New York. On Saturday, November 12, Edward Glaesar, author, economist and Harvard University professor, will also address conference delegates.

In order to provide members with an in-depth exploration of the most pressing challenges facing cities today, the NLC will offer four "concurrent conferences" during the Congress of Cities. Topics will include economic development, green cities and infrastructure, as well as the National Summit on Your City's Families. The impact of immigrant integration in communities and the need for comprehensive immigration reform will also be addressed during conference sessions.

In addition to keynote speakers, workshops and peer networking sessions, the Congress of Cities will offer the traditional governance activities, leadership training seminars, committee, council and constituency group meetings and exhibit hall vendors. Delegates will also learn about innovative programs for cities and towns through the City Showcase. At the conclusion of the conference, the organization will elect its 2012 officers and Board of Directors and set organizational policies and priorities for the next year.

The National League of Cities is the nation's oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.

The "need" for immigration reform? This just goes to show how out of touch and corrupted these people are. Celia Munoz is a card carrying member of La Raza and a traitor to this country. She belongs no where near a position of leadership, representing American citizens . I suspect she wouldn't be; but for the traitor we now have acting as President.
