I'm sure there are lots of American citizens of Latino decent who could care less about the dream act or outright oppose it.

In a sense its the American people who are getting NO RESPECT from either party for refusing to enforce our borders and laws , I'm sure included are many Americans of latino decent.

This country is losing its identity because it continues to suck up to latinos as though they are the only ones that matter in this country , ENOUGH OF THIS BS ,

Its time our reps stood up for all Americans and quit this sick pandering to LATINOS

If you're looking for who killed the Dream Act, Republicans have an airtight alibi: They may be obnoxious, coldhearted, shortsighted and too wedded to xenophobic elements in the GOP base. But they're also small enough in number as to be completely irrelevant to this debate.

Better not to write him, he will just say "glad my article stimulated you", then he will show his boss the pile of e-mails as evidence he has high readership which leads to an increased salary.

Navarrette and the Latino Community are tone death. They constantly put this as a battle between Democrats and Republicans. They cannot get it through their heads that some Senators and Congressmen actually listen to the American citizens. They constantly ignore and downplay the opinions or voice of the American people.

Demos got clobbered in the Congressional elections because they weren't listening to ordinary Americans. They jammed thru a Byzantine health care bill when what Americans were really concerned about was keeping roofs over their heads. The Tea Party railed against illegals and became almost main stream, and still the Demos would not listen. Republicans did listen. And they were not burdened by a quisling who doesn't know when he doesn't know something. Dream on, chump.

Illegal immigrant students had to step forward and take responsibility for being in the United States unlawfully. And they would not have gotten something for nothing since, in order to qualify for residency, they had to go to college or join the military.

All they had to do was kinda promise. Yea, right. Just what would happen to any one of them, down the road, when one is caught not fulfilling that obligation. Its my guess they would be made a poster boy for some new slogan like "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us". Can you imagine the fraud? How come we always hear/see the pretty young girl that got straight "A"s and wants to become a doctor but we seldom hear about, as an example, any of the 50% of Hispanic high school drop outs that will soon be overrunning California.
