U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: October 29 - November 4

(11/04/2009)Border Patrol agents seized over 10,727 pounds of marijuana and 150 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 19 criminal aliens and 6 gang members. There were 3 rocking incidents.

Blaine Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Sumas, Washington. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Mexico for illegal entry into the United States near Calexico, California. Records checks

revealed the subject had a prior conviction for kidnapping in the State of Illinois and was a member of the Latin Kings gang.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for an attempt to commit sexual abuse in the State of Oregon, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – A Border Patrol agent observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed without the use of headlights near Ajo, Arizona. The agent followed the vehicle and, as he approached, the driver left the highway and drove into the desert. Several subjects exited the vehicle and absconded into the desert. The agent recovered a .22 caliber pistol from the vehicle. The vehicle, a 2003 Dodge Ram, had been reported stolen in Phoenix, Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 64 bundles of marijuana weighing 1,180 pounds from an abandoned vehicle near Newfield, Arizona. Agents observed a vehicle as it left Newfield and turned south towards the border. The two occupants of the vehicle bailed out and absconded into Mexico. The marijuana was found in the vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Mesa, Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for a sexual offense in the State of Washington, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 55 bundles of marijuana weighing 1,230 pounds and a stolen 2004 Dodge Durango near Sonoita, Arizona. Agents discovered the abandoned vehicle on the side of the road.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual contact without consent in the State of Colorado. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a United States Citizen (USC) near Arrey, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had an arrest warrant for child pornography in the State of Virginia.


Grand Forks Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Grand Forks, North Dakota. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for alien smuggling in the State of Texas, and had been previously removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested 30 illegal aliens and seized a tractor-trailer near Jamul, California. The driver presented himself for inspection and a search of the trailer revealed the aliens.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Tombstone, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for statutory rape, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for aggravated sexual battery of a victim less than 13 years old in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of El Salvador, 17 illegal aliens from Mexico, two illegal aliens from Guatemala, two illegal aliens from China, and seized a tractor-trailer at the traffic checkpoint near Kingsville, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer where the aliens were discovered hidden among a load of produce.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,664 pounds of marijuana from an abandoned vehicle near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,147 pounds of marijuana and a stolen 2004 Dodge Ram near Arivaca, Arizona. Agents observed suspicious activity at a residence, and after obtaining and serving a warrant on the home, 52 bricks of marijuana were discovered inside the residence.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sex with a minor in the State of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a warrant of arrest issued in the State of Nevada for trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine, and possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a felony. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued a female subject near Portal, Arizona. Agents were informed by a male subject in custody that his wife had been left behind in the desert during their illegal entry. Agents initiated a search and discovered the female subject in distress. The female subject was airlifted by emergency medical services to a local hospital for treatment.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Brownsville, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had been charged with sexual contact and indecency with a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, and was a registered sex offender in the State of Texas. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sonoita, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for rape and kidnapping in the State of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents performed CPR on an elderly civilian who stopped breathing near Alamogordo, New Mexico. The subject regained consciousness and was transported by emergency medical service personnel to a local hospital for treatment.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Fabens, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a registered sex offender in the State of Minnesota, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,413 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer and arrested a national of Cuba at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS) scan revealed anomalies in the trailer. A search of the trailer revealed 119 bundles of marijuana concealed within the cargo.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico and seized 150 pounds of cocaine near Zapata, Texas. Agents observed a boat travel from the Mexican side of Falcon Lake to the United States and three subjects disembarked. All three were carrying large bags. Two of the subjects returned to the boat and departed, but agents were able to locate the third subject and the narcotics.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,737 pounds of marijuana near Rio Grande City, Texas. Agents observed two subjects acting suspiciously near a shed behind a residence and, as agents approached, the subjects absconded. The owner of the house gave agents consent to search the shed where 60 bundles of marijuana were discovered.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Casa Grande, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual battery in the State of California and had an arrest warrant for failure to appear. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sells, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for attempted murder in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents performed a vehicle stop on a 1999 Ford Windstar and arrested the driver, a USC, and five smuggled aliens near Sasabe, Arizona. Records checks revealed the USC is a registered sex offender, and had numerous felony convictions and arrest warrants in the State of California.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico who claimed to have been robbed by bandits near Lordsburg, New Mexico. The case was referred to local law enforcement officials.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico after she gave birth in a canyon near Douglas, Arizona. Border Patrol agents provided first aid to the subject and assisted emergency medical services with her extraction from the canyon. The subject and her infant were transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital for treatment.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sonoita, Arizona. During processing, it was revealed that the subject is an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed that the subject had a lengthy criminal history to include a prior conviction for possession of cocaine in the State of California.
