Dave Gorak: Kohl, Feingold vote again to protect illegal aliens

Dear Editor: Everybody knows how annoying it is to listen to a broken record stuck in the same groove, but that's exactly how Sens. Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold sounded again on Oct. 7 when they voted to protect illegal aliens and throw American workers to the wolves.

In a 61-38 vote, the Senate voted to table an amendment offered by Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) that would prevent the commerce, justice and science spending bill from funding "sanctuary" cities, which are municipalities and states that prohibit public officials, including law enforcement personnel, from inquiring about a person's immigration status and from reporting illegal aliens to federal agents. Despite a 1996 law that bans these "sanctuaries," they exist in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Houston. Maine is the only state that has an official sanctuary policy.

When will the people of Wisconsin wake up to the fact that Kohl and Feingold are responsible only to those who fill their campaign coffers and no one else? How else can we explain their siding with the 8 million illegal aliens who are being permitted to keep their jobs while 15 million of our fellow citizens are unable to find full-time work?
