Outagamie County Sheriff's Department steps up illegal immigrant enforcement

    By Dan Wilson
    Post-Crescent staff writer

APPLETON — The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department, under a policy started last fall, is screening all jail inmates it suspects are illegal aliens and referring them to immigration authorities.

Since the policy was put into place about six months ago, 90 inmates have been picked up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a division of the Department of Homeland Security.

This is the perfect example of why we must stop this latest attempt at amnesty. Without amnesty, the interior enforcement efforts of local law enforcement will continue to spread as cities, towns, and communities realize they need to deal with the problem. Furthermore, if (or should I say when) we're successful in preventing amnesty - we must keep pounding our federal government into submission - they must continue to raids, sweeps, arrest, etc. We don't need any darn "comprehensive" immigration reform, what we need to do is secure our border and enforce our written immigration laws! Of course a few more enforcement bills along the way wouldn't hurt.
