Two indicted for smuggling aliens
June 12, 2007 (MADISON, Wis.) - A federal grand jury has indicted two Wisconsin men for allegedly smuggling aliens into Wisconsin and harboring them at hotels.

Authorities say 51-year-old Siddhartha "Sam" Shah of Pleasant Prairie arranged and paid for Guatemalans to be smuggled to Wisconsin, where he arranged for them to live and work at Super Eight motels in Wisconsin Dells and Pleasant Prairie while taking steps to hide the operation.
Shah also is accused of directing a former employee to lie to federal agents about the circumstances surrounding posting a bond to secure the release of a smuggled alien found at the Wisconsin Dells Super Eight and harboring an illegal alien at the hotel last September 22nd.

Thirty-six-year-old Jignesh "Mark" Jagaria of Wisconsin Dells is accused of harboring an illegal alien at the Wisconsin Dells motel September 22nd, as well as helping an alien elude immigration authorities.

The grand jury returned the indictment last Thursday. It was unsealed today.

No telephone listing could be found for Shah or Jagaria when The Associated Press tried to reach them for comment.
